How Long Will My Teenager Wear Braces?
Early Orthodontic Care – Early treatment will allow for Dr. Baloul to guide the development of the jaw and recommend treatment as it becomes necessary. Every child has specific needs, and some may not require early treatment. In some cases, Dr. Baloul may recommend your child wait for further care.
Treatment Needed – Because every person’s mouth and teeth are unique, the amount of time you or your child will spend in braces will be determined by the specific movement needed in order to obtain the desired results. Dr. Baloul and her team of professionals will take the time needed to explain your specific treatment plan and how long you can expect to wear your braces.
Commitment – The treatment plan Dr. Baloul develops will be designed based on your cooperation in between your visits to the office. Taking care of your braces and appliances will help you have the shortest possible treatment time.
What Foods Must Teens Avoid While Wearing Braces?
The foods teens are encouraged to avoid include sticky, chewy and crunchy foods. This means things like popcorn, candy, gum and bagels, to name a few. These foods are hard to remove from the brackets and wires and may even damage the orthodontic materials in the mouth. Even with Invisalign® Teen, these foods are discouraged because there are small knobs on the teeth to secure the aligners.
How Much Do Teen Braces Cost?
The cost for teen braces is based on each individual case, taking into account the type of braces and how long they are worn. At Elegant Orthodontics, we understand the importance of the financial aspect of braces. In addition to our payment options, we offer financing through OrthoFi, and help patients with dental insurance determine if they have orthodontic coverage. We want to make braces for teens as affordable as possible.
Is My Teen a Good Candidate for Braces?
If your teenager has misaligned, protruding or crooked teeth, braces can correct and straighten them. We recommend you schedule a consultation with Dr. Baloul so she can evaluate your teenager’s mouth and teeth, and make a recommendation about braces.
At Elegant Orthodontics, Susan Baloul, DMD, MS, DScD, a dual-trained specialist in orthodontics and periodontics, understands the importance of braces for teens and works hard to help them feel and look good while wearing them. If you live in Boston, Norwood, Westowood, Canton, or neighboring cities, please contact us today to schedule a complimentary consultation to begin the journey to a straighter smile.
